Gatwick is the second largest and busiest airport in the United Kingdom. Gatwick North had only one runway, but still sees more than 34 million passengers annually. The airport is located just north of Brighton in the London metropolitan area. London is home to more than seven million people. If you include the whole metropolitan area, the number goes up to more than eight million.
If you fly into Gatwick North, you should have no problems finding a hire car. Hertz, Avis, Europcar, National, Alamo, Enterprise, Dollar and Thrifty all have desks in the airport making car rental easy and convenient. The airport is also very well served by public transport, busses, trains and coaches run regularly on a daily basis. Gatwick Express provides transport into London city centre, and this express service only takes 30 minutes.
If you have never been to London, then you are really missing out. London is a major draw for tourism every year, attracting visitors from all around the world. London is the largest urban area in the United Kingdom and is where the queen of England calls homes. London has been around since medieval times and had a rich history to uncover through its buildings, monuments, and other historical artifacts.
A tourist’s first stop should be Buckingham Palace. It is the home of the queen and a place where royalty is often seen. There are also many other great historical sites around London to check out, such as the Tower of London, the Palace of Westminster, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. All are listed as World Heritage Sites.
London is also a great tourist site, especially for Americans, because the native language is English. There are also quite a few opportunities to hear many other European languages with its close proximity to the European mainland. So when you get to the airport, rent a hire car and get going.
