“Belfast Harbour Airport” was opened on 16 March 1938 by Mrs Neville Chamberlain, wife of the then British Prime Minister. The inaugural flight was to Glasgow, Scotland. Throughout the war the Harbour Airport, or RAF Belfast as it became known, was home to the development and deployment of many famous aircraft including the legendary Shorts Sunderland flying boat.
Cash Dispensers
There are two cash dispensers on the ground floor of the terminal, adjacent to the Delice de France Cafe. Both accept a wide range of bank and credit cards and dispense Bank of England notes. One of these cash dispensers is positioned at a ‘wheelchair friendly’ height.
E-working
Belfast City Airport is part of the ‘BT Open zone’ network providing wireless LAN connection for customers whose laptops have been enabled to access wireless LAN facilities. The ‘BT Open zone’ is available within the main Departures Lounge on the ground floor, the restaurant / bar area on the first floor, and the Conference Centre.
Car Parks
The Short Stay Car Park is the first car park on the right hand side after entering the airport site. The Main Car Park is sited past the terminal building. Both are signposted. A courtesy bus operates between the Main Car Park and the terminal. This bus circulates every 15 minutes, stopping at 3 shelters in the car park and at the designated point beside the terminal entrance.
‘The combined facilities of the Belfast City Airport and the lounge will certainly make for a very different and unique experience for those who will travel soon’.
