Avis has received the “best” car hire firm award for the Middle East. This was given to them in Dubai at the Arabian Travel Market Awards, which is a main tourist destination in the region and a business booming centre. It was not really a surprise to a lot of people in the car hire industry that Avis won this award, considering that they have won this same award for the last 7 years. A television personality that is well known in the United Kingdom, Martyn Lewis, was in Dubai to present the award to Avis for the ceremony, which took place early last week.
Avis’ Qatar director, Vijay Kumar, has said to journalists that he was pleased that his firm was acknowledged for its excellent car hire service in the whole region. He said that they are optimistic about Avis’ continued outbound and inbound business development in the region. The firm’s strategy is to maintain and build the business aiming at both intercontinental and intra-gulf traffic, whether it is leisure or business, which was also explained by Kumar. They have great hope for the future in providing more and better service.
Avis has been providing car hire services for a long time in the Middle East. This car hire giant began its business during the 1960s, over 40 years ago, with its first outlets. Then it expanded during the 1970s into a lot of the countries around the Gulf where the first Avis outlets were opened in Qatar in 1981.
