The operations of Air France KLM is planned to be boosted between Scotland and their two major hubs in Europe if the price of oil does not rise much more. The general manager over the merged company in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Christine Ourmières, said to The Scotsman that she was finalizing the proposals that will increase how frequent there will be flights from Scotland to Paris and Amsterdam.
Also, Inverness is the most probable candidate for a new Scottish hub to be in the cards for the carrier. She added, however, that Air France KLM needs to be sure that the expansion is feasible with the current status of the economy before they formally announce any plans. She also told The Scotsman that they want to see Scotland develop. The environment that the economy is in is uncertain because the price of petrol continues to rise, and they want to be positive that there is a consistent development in their growth strategy.
Air France KLM has revealed that their passenger amount for the Scotland KLM flights has increased 5% in the year ending March, because more travelers have been opting to use the Amsterdam hub for traveling to worldwide destinations.
The total passenger numbers of people who are flying from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, or Glasgow with KLM’s part of the carrier was 791,192, whereas in the previous year they only had 758,726 passengers. With the addition of Air France, the amount of passengers from January to April of this year nearly doubled, jumping from 24,169 to 47,144, which happened after CityJet took over the route for ScotAirways.
