Thousands of drivers in the United Kingdom are in car accidents while they are traveling abroad and driving on roads they are not quite familiar with. Avis is now stepping in to issue a warning as travelers are beginning their great summer holidays. Daniel McCarthy says that travel assistance and insurance is necessary to have, and travelers should not be cutting the cost of hiring a car by not including these. They are advising everyone who is traveling abroad to hire a car with Avis preferably. They are, however, offering tips to both those who choose to hire a car and use their own.
The first tip is to plan out the journeys they will be taking before they start their holiday. They are advising that you become familiar with maps of the areas and calculate an estimate of how long the journeys will take. If travelers do choose to hire a car, then they should get a navigation system with it. To become more acquainted with the destination’s driving etiquette, travelers can pick up a driving guide.
Avis advises that travelers have both travel insurance and motor assistance, whether they are taking their own car or not. This is an essential safety precaution to ensure that if something bad happens, they will not be left stranded, plus, save a lot of money if there are any damages to the vehicle. It is also essential to remember the phone numbers of who to contact if something like this happens, such as the travel company that they have the insurance with and the car hire company that they hired their car from.
The most important piece of advise that Avis is warning travelers to remember is to not drink and drive. A lot of Europe’s laws are not quite as strict as the United Kingdom’s. McCarthy added that their top priority is driving safely, whether travelers are at home or abroad, and they hope that these tips will help everyone avoid having an accident anytime, especially when they are on a holiday.
