Hiring a car at Malaga Airport

Independent travellers considering car-hire at Malaga Airport will find the car-hire desks on the lower ground floor, however, it is important to note that the desks here only provide services from a limited number of companies. The number of car-hire companies operating out of Malaga airport is huge, but many of them operate from offices located a short distance away, accessible by shuttle bus. Those planning to go off-road and explore the terrain of the interior will of course be attracted by the rugged charms of the 4×4s, while large groups of friends travelling together or families with several children may wish to consider a Minibus van. Luggage capacity will also be a consideration for most travellers, with those travelling light being able to take advantage of the most compact options.

Some Tips on Driving in Spain

Getting to grips with the open road on your arrival can prove challenging if you have never driven on the opposite side of the road; many people report flashbacks to those awkward feelings they had as a learner driver. Remember to carry your British driving licence with you at all times, backed up with a form of photo id. Once you have taken the plunge out onto the road, concentrate on sticking to the right at all times - surprisingly many people forget, with disastrous consequences. Try not to overtake until you have built up some confidence, always remaining vigilant of local conditions and speed limits. You may initially find that warning signs or exits come upon you more quickly than in the UK, so keep a sensible speed until you do feel confident. The maximum speed limit in Spain is 120 km/h which equates to 75mph, with radar controls in operation in key areas. If you suffer a break-down while out on your travels, you will be obliged to lay out two warning triangles to advise other vehicles of your situation; all car-hire companies should supply these items. Finally, as in the UK, drink driving only leads to problems, but even more so if you are feeling less confident than you would on UK roads, so try to remain alcohol-free for the sake of yourself and your passengers
