The Avis Budget Group announced last Monday that Budget Rent A Car and Avis Rent A Car are forming an alliance with Coby Electronics in order to begin offering their customers portable DVD players to rent at locations in Puerto Rico, Canada, and the United States. This service, named Flicks-To-Go, features the TF-DVD 7050 from Coby Electronics, which is a portable DVD player which easily attaches to the back headrest on the front seat of a car.

The DVD player from Coby Electronics features an LCD screen of 7 inches and plays CDs, MP3s, DVDs, and CD-RWs, as well as has an anti-skip circuitry built-in. This unit offers travelers the choice of listening through speakers for everyone or listening to the video with headphones for a single viewer; when the rental period ends, travelers will get to keep their headsets. The technology also features a battery that is rechargeable and fully portable, which offers entertainment when in the car, as well as out.

Michael Caron, the Vice President of Program and Product Development for the Avis Budget Group, said that they have dedicated theirselves to providing their customers with convenience and value, and Flicks-To-Go allows travelers to pack one item less when they travel, which can make their trip more enjoyable. Mark Farish, the Head of Marketing at Coby Electronics, says that movies and road trips just go together, especially when there are children traveling too. The portable DVD player adds entertainment in the backseat for those who travel in the comfort of a Budget and Avis car hire, he continued, as well as the flexibility of bringing music and movies on a trip to anywhere.
