Those who love Lonely Planet travel guides are going to love the new agreement that the company has made with Nokia, integrating the content from Lonely Planet with the maps from Nokia. Nokia has teamed up with Lonely Planet to help travelers everywhere, distributing travel guides through Nokia Maps. Customers can buy and download city guides so they have the information they need right at their fingertips while they are traveling on the road. Lonely Planet now has over 100 destinations to choose from, while more are being added. The travel guides from Lonely Planet will help travelers find places to sleep, shop, and eat, as well as describe the destination’s nightlife and most popular sights.
Maximilian Schierstadt, the Head of Media Partnerships at Nokia, said that Lonely Planet is known very well among travelers and stands for editorial independence and adventure. They are very thrilled to offer Lonely Planet’s expert local itineraries and recommendations to their Nokia Maps, which will enable Nokia to continue developing innovative products and allow compelling destination aware experiences, he added.
Stephen Palmer, the Chief Executive Officer of Lonely Planet Publications, said that this is a transformational agreement, which makes their content readily available no matter what time it is or where the customer is. This deal will help travelers with all the questions they have had recently on the road, like what they should explore for the day or where they should go to eat for dinner, he continued, and with Nokia, they will help more people profoundly connect with their world.
