Europcar, the top car hire company in Europe, and Enterprise Rent A Car, the largest car hire company in North America, announced on Thursday that they have improved the strategic alliance so that it includes their brand of Enterprise, as well as the brands of Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental, which constituted the existing transatlantic partnership. Europcar and Enterprise Rent A Car have been working in order to formally enhance the alliance since the purchase of Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental by Enterprise Rent A Car in August of last year. With the additional partnership with Enterprise Rent A Car, the alliance is now going to offer a fleet of over 1.2 million cars combined in over 13,000 destinations over 162 countries. The new partnership constitutes the biggest car hire network across the globe.
This expanded alliance will provide hire car coverage to customers who are traveling between the operation areas of each partner company. Under the agreement terms, the partners will make a coordinated approach on international corporate accounts, offering the organizations and companies of today the most extensive network in the car hire industry anywhere around the world, which will be complete with loyalty programs. This agreement is created to develop and leverage the traffic between Europe and North America, since an estimate of 12 million people go over the Atlantic every year in either direction. The Chairmen of both companies, Andrew C. Taylor for Enterprise and Gilbert Saada for Europcar, said that the alliance is a major strategic milestone in developing a plan for the two companies, as they have both been leaders in their markets by being focused on customer service. They added that they expect their clients worldwide to benefit from their shared vision and value.
