Hilton Hotels has announced the opening of its first property in Russia. The Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya will be the first of three major Hilton properties to open in Russia in this year alone. The hotel, owned by JSC Sadko Hotel, will be operated under an agreement with the Hilton brand, and will be managed by a subsidiary of Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
Wolfgang M. Neumann, President of Hilton Hotels Europe, said: ‘This marks an exciting and historic occasion for us at Hilton, with the opening of our first ever property in Russia. As one of the world’s fastest growing cities, Moscow presents us with a real opportunity for substantial expansion for the Hilton brand in the years to come across the region.’
The Hilton spokesman adds that the hotel giant is excited to expand it’s holdings into Russia, and into such an historic building. The new Hilton property will be located in one of the seven “Stalin Towers” that highlight the Moscow skyline. Originally built in 1954, the building continues to exhibit its historic architectural details and modern design flourishes. Beautiful wooden ceiling panels and ornate chandeliers adorn the structure, and it will be located next to Moscow’s Garden Ring, just a short walk from a central train station.
It will contain 273 rooms, situated on 28 of the buildings levels, and will provide guests with beautiful views of Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Kremlin. The hotel will offer gourmet cuisine, though the head chef has yet to be announced, and the property will sport Wi-Fi broadband access for guests, as well as a gym and spa facilities for the guests’ relaxation after using the state of the art business center located on-site.
