You can not imagine a motor section in our local media without them questioning whether electric cars are our future or not. It is such an interesting subject that it often splits the media in two.

We have those that hate the electrical phase and the green community that want everything to change so that the environment will no longer be damaged in any shape or form whatsoever. You very rarely find anyone that is neutral in this subject as it can be a very heated and passionate discussion and we all have different views that we want to share.

The Jeremy Clarkson’s of this world often get themselves into trouble for making nasty comments against environmentalists. This is the old fashioned bread that wants that amazing fast car and believes that it can not be found through electrical boring cars.

Yes that is spot on – unless you are green you hate the boring electrical cars!

The problem though is that yes there are electric cars available but there is very little choice to the average household. You are suddenly told that you must buy this certain electric car but the minimum price is around the £10,000 mark and those on medium to low incomes will NEVER be able to afford anything near that amount and will have to stick with what they already know.

Right now the car industry is in a lot of trouble with the current recession so there just isn’t the money there for experimenting, as this is what is desperately needed right this minute. Companies need to come up with lots of new electrical cars at competitive prices that the average person in the street could afford to have on their driveway or parked outside their terraced house.

Unfortunately it will be the next generation before anything good comes out of this. We need the electrical cars to do their thing pass through owners and come back at reasonably priced second hand electrical cars. People don’t want to pay a premium for them and that is exactly what they do right now because there aren’t very many available the car companies can simply charge what they like for them and there is nothing that the customer can do about it.

I do see a future with a world of electrical cars and believe it will have a big place in society. But it is like other types of cars such as diesel there are many of them but they don’t hold the monopoly in the British motor industry and that is what I expect with electrical cars.

Here are my favourite 15 current electrical cars that are taking the world by storm:

Tesla Roadster

Chevy Volt

Toyota Hybrid

prius

Aptera Typ-1

Baker Motor Vehicle, Fisker Karma, Renault, Nissan, Zenn all of which we don’t have pictures for!

Venturi Eclectic

Also, there’s the Th!nk Ox, UEV Spyder, Phoenix SUT, Miles ZX40, Smart EV and The Silence

Think of the sports car phenomenon those are associated with petrol cars and the drivers of them would never settle for a boring diesel car and you can never change this type of people. They will never want an electric car so don’t force it on them just let them stick with what they already like just give the other drivers the opportunity.

It is like any product or service some will love it and some will simply hate it. Electric cars are our future and will account for a certain amount of car owners market but they will never hold the monopoly.
