It now seems that AA Travel Insurance is warning travelers that they need to take out the proper travel coverage when booking flights abroad for this Christmas. Although this is good advice every year, experts say that this year the advice goes double.
Due to recent airline collapses, like the ones with XL Airways, Zoom and Silverjet, many passengers have found themselves without a ride home and out a lot of money. It is very likely that more airlines could go under during these holiday trips, and passengers do not want to find themselves in the same situation.
Also, other airlines like British Airways have seen their fair amount of troubles as well. Due to these troubles British Airways could be looking at a strike this coming holiday season, which would leave more passengers without a flight to catch. The announcements came just after British Airways announced plans to change working conditions and offer up pay freezes and redundancies for its cabin crew.
Of course, the British Airways cabin crew was not happy with the plan, and a strike ballot has been called. Right now it is still not for sure if there will be a strike or not, meaning that holiday travelers are still left wondering if they will have a flight or not. These are the reasons why travel insurance is a must for holiday travelers this year.
A spokesperson for AA Travel Insurance said that the current problems facing the airline industry are huge. Travelers need to protect themselves this year with insurance to make sure they are covered in the event that an airline fails.
