Airbus has been called on by Air France to make a bigger version of the new A-380 super jumbo-jet, which can already hold a maximum of 555 passengers.  The airline chief executive of Franco-Dutch has argued that many carriers would jump at the chance of being able to buy an even bigger long-haul plane, because it would let the firms save money on the operating costs.  According to the chief executive’s calculations, this new extended version of the A-380 will hold a maximum of 656 people.  The CEO of Air France pointed out the fact that if the new model is made, the carrier, Franco-Dutch, would probably buy a large number of them.

Air France also looks like they are going to be one of the main new A-380 jumbo-jet operators, because they have already placed an order for 12 of them.  A lot of analysts think that it is a wise move by Air France to use the bigger planes on the popular long-haul routes, because it will allow them to carry more passengers without the need to have extra flights.  As a result they will be saving money on their petrol bill.  It has also been observed by a business analyst that ordering planes that are that large will pose the problem that the number of passengers may begin to decline, which will leave it impossible for the carriers to fill all of the seats for such a large plane.

Although the creating of the extended A-380 has not been ruled out, it still remains questionable, even though there has been interest in it expressed by Emirates Airlines as well.
