Kingstone High School in Heresfordshire has introduced a new scheme in September that is suppose to reward children that have a 100 percent attendance record with a trip to Alton Towers. However, many parents have now spoke out against the scheme. Of course, the parents are not speaking out, because they do not want their kids going to Alton Towers; they are speaking out, because they say its unfair.
One of the parents told the school that it was unfair to reward kids for not getting sick or ill during the school year. She went on to say that some children could not help getting sick this year. Although she understands that the scheme was meant to help kids not want to skip school, some kids may have really gotten sick, and it’s unfair that they do not get to go to Alton Towers.
However, Kingstone High School said that only about four parents have complained about the scheme so far. The school also made note that the new scheme has truly improved the attendance for the whole school..
One parent said that she has three kids that go to school at Kingstone High school. She said that all of her children were going on the trip, because they all insisted that they had to go to school, even when not feeling well.
One child refused to leave school when she got ill, while another child refused to miss a day of school even after breaking their leg. All of these kids have done all they can to make sure that they get to go to Alton Towers with the rest of their schoolmates.
