Alton Towers is now considering building yet another hotel as part of a multi million pound, ten year plan to consolidate the resort’s position as the number one theme park in the UK. This will be the third hotel that will be built in light of this new project.

Merlin Entertainments is set to outline the proposal to the district council within the next two months. The blueprint will include large investment in new rides, as well as infrastructure and heritage features. Of course, some of the money is also going to go to further on site accommodations for guests.

As of now, the resort is currently responsible for about 2,900 jobs in the UK. The company also brings in around £38 million of income in the local economy. This third hotel, if approved, would provide a major job boost for the area.

Alton Towers had already taken on about 240 new staff to run Splash Landings when the hotel opened back in 2003. Right now, a grand total of 1,549 guests can be accommodated on site every single night at Alton Towers. These accommodations right now can be found at the 13 year old, 175 room Alton Towers Hotel and at the new Splash Landings hotel that features 216 rooms and an indoor water park.

Alton Towers is very excited about the many millions of pounds that will be invested into the resort over the next 10 years. They hope that this investment will keep all the theme park lovers coming in for more. Other information on the project is set to be released later on.
