Each year approximately 150,000 people working in the travel industry gather to celebrate the World Travel Awards. In 2008 the awards for North America were held in Orlando Florida where Avis Rent A Car was honored for being North America’s leading car hire service.
Tom Garland, Executive VP of Sales for Avis said, “This honor is a tribute to the thousands of employees who try harder everyday for our customers.” Avis, one of the largest car hire companies operating in North America has more than 2000 locations worldwide with a majority of those operating within the United States.
Avis is well known for being one of the first car hire companies to provide GPS navigational systems in their vehicles and recently installed a new version in their rentals. The Where2 unit is based on other popular brands of GPS units. The Unit provides customers with large buttons, high resolution display screens, and a variety of other features such as stock prices, Amber Alerts, and traffic conditions. With these advances Avis hopes to become the top choice among Americans who use rental cars for business and leisure.
The new GPS system along with the Award for being the North America’s Leading Car Hire Service will help Avis launch a new marketing scheme and help prepare the company for a bright future across the globe.
