It now appears that Bmi has formed a new codeshare agreement with Continental Airlines. This new deal allows Bmi to sell tickets to United States destinations served by Continental Airlines from five UK airports. This new agreement comes just after Continental Airlines became a member of the Star Alliance.

This new deal allows Bmi to sell tickets to Newark Liberty International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport from Heathrow, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, and Brussels. Continental Airlines will be able to sell tickets on Bmi services connecting through the same set of UK airports. However, Continental Airlines will also have access to Belfast and Amman as well. The two carriers hope to announce additional codeshare destinations throughout the rest of this year.

The sales and marketing director of Bmi, Katherine Gershon, said that the new chodeshare agreement with Continental Airlines will mean that their customers will have more opportunities to travel on new services between key departure points in the United States. She also noted that they hope to work out other key departure points with Continental Airlines in the near feature.

The executive vice president of marketing for Continental Airlines, Jim Compton, said that they are just delighted to have this new deal with Bmi. He hopes that more deals like this can be arranged in the future to give customers even more travel options.

This new agreement could mean big things for both airlines and opens a lot of new doors. So far it looks as if Continental Airlines has had no problems getting in with their new group, Star Alliance.
