The British Royal Family is now utilizing black taxis to travel to unofficial engagements instead of using its expensive fleet vehicles as the Queen attempts to minimize the household’s expenses.

Minor Royals Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto already use the Dial-a-Cab taxi service.

Now, the Royal Family financial advisers are formulating a plan to include top Royals including Prince Harry and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie in using the cab service wherever possible.

The Royal household staffs, for the time being, are asked to utilize public transportation or even walk to official events or gatherings as an alternative in hiring cabs. The staffs are encouraged to also use buses and trains as their alternative mode of transportation.

An internal source has said that Chelsy Davy, Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto have all utilized the Dial-a-Cab service. Viscount Linley is said to be a fan of black cabs, especially those with walnut interiors.

Meanwhile, the Royal protection officers are not troubled over security concerns for the Royal Family using black cabs. They said that this is a superb way in maintaining anonymity.

Last year, the Queen, for the first time, took a public train to Sandringham instead of her Royal carriages, which saved an estimated £57,000 in taxpayer’s money.

In the early nineties, Princess Diana has used the Dial-a-Cab service to cut expenses following her divorce with Prince Charles. Buckingham Palace and Clarence House verified that they both have accounts with Dial-a-Cab.
