Despite all of the discounts being offered by travel companies all over the UK, many Brits are still planning on taking no trips away next year. Recent polls suggest that Brits are simply going to cut holiday trips out of their budgets.
In 2009, a total of about 10 percent took no breaks. However, figures for next year suggest that about 18 percent of all Brits will take no break in 2010, according to a survey that was taken by travelsupermarket.com.
The people that will be taking one break away will increase from 26 percent in 2009 to 33 percent. The number of people that will take at least 2 trips in 2010 also increased from 26 percent to 29 percent. The number of people that will be taking three trips next year will increase one percent to 13 percent, while the number that will take four trips will drop to four percent from five percent in 2009.
Travelsupermarket.com said that Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and Poland were the best value for money destinations for 2010. The most popular places overall include Turkey, Egypt and Spain. The company did forecast that there would be a surge in the number of visits that South Africa gets due to the football World Cup in the summer of 2010. However, ski holidays for next year are likely to decline.
Bob Atkinson, from travelsupermarket.com, said that prices will be king in 2010, meaning that the places that can offer the best deals will win out over all others. Savvy travelers will be holding off until the last minute to plan their trips. People will also be keeping an eye on the strength of the pound and go to places that the pound favors well in.
