Low cost carriers Ryanair and easyJet was said to have received the most number of complaints last year than any other airline that had been utilized by British passengers.

According to the Air Transport Users Council (AUC), complaints from passengers on both airlines include cancellation of flights, missing luggage and denied boarding. easyJet was hard-hit with a total of 719 complaints followed by Ryanair with 673. Both budget carriers appear to have more and more complaints received since 2005.

The recent conducted survey shows that quality service standard is often forgotten by low fare carriers. Liberal Democrat transport spokesman, Norman Baker, said that the rise in complaints shows that customer service is sometimes being taken for granted. He added that some low cost carriers think that they have full control over the budget market – that is why they treat passengers badly.

An industry analyst however reasoned that the noticeable surge in passenger complaints against low cost airlines is still reasonably low when put side by side to aviation industry’s growth over the past 10 years. He said that both Ryanair and easyJet have a combined passenger of 13 million only ten years ago – far lower than today’s 100 million served guests.
