The booming car rental market in the UAE has seen Budget Rent-a-Car step up its operation.

Budget, one of the world leaders in car and van rental, has announced a new outlet for Skypark Plaza at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Skypark Plaza is the first car parking specialist provider in the region and has been designed to support one of the world’s most rapidly growing airports and dynamic business hubs.

The UAE-based Liberty Investment Company (LIC), which is the master franchisee for the region, made the announcement on behalf of Budget Rent-a-Car as part of an ongoing expansion plan for the rental provider.

Senior General Manager for Budget Rent-a-Car in the UAE, Salim Damji, called the successful bid for strategic space inside the iconic Skypark Plaza a major development for the Budget group, one which will create a significant boost to revenues in Abu Dhabi. Damji claimed that business capital would likely grow by 25 per cent over 2010 with the move. Budget already operates two city offices in Abu Dhabi in addition to the newly opened Abu Dhabi International Airport Skypark Plaza.

Abu Dhabi has experienced huge growth over the past two years, as neighbouring Dubai threatens to implode on its own riches. A spate of mega-projects and headline grabbing plans has been seen across the emirate, notably the Guggenheim Museum, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Yas Marina F1 Circuit and the Masdar zero-carbon City project. There are also developments planned for island style accommodation which will see Abu Dhabi explode onto the tourism market, with Budget ready and waiting to capitalise.
