Crystal cruises has been voted number one on Travel + Leisure’s coveted list for the 14th year in a row. The list is a ranking of the top ten large cruise ships currently in operation.

The annual list has become well watched in the industry and by tourists. The magazine surveys its readers every year on a variety of topic. Their latest rankings include lists of top cruise lines, hotels, museums and so on.

There has been some controversy from readers who point out that many of the top picks are often the most expensive options. One wonders if Travel + Leisure readers tend to be from a particular economic demographic, or perhaps ships based on quality alone and not value or price.

There was one new ship on the list of large cruise ships one year and NCL, which had been on the list many time was not there this year. The new large ships were from Azamara line. There ships only carry about 700 passengers, but they narrowly qualify for the large ship category.

Riverboat ships are expected to make a bigger showing next year as there is an increasing trend towards them.
