Ebookers.com has revealed that a number sunny and exotic travel destinations have seen a boost due to the recent uprising in Egypt.
The top online travel firm said this week that the unrest convinced thousands of sun-seeking holidaymakers to look to different destinations for their travels, leading to significant increases in bookings at a number of warm-weather getaway spots, especially Miami and Dubai.
The website said its January figures showed Egypt-bound bookings down significantly alongside a 32% increase in bookings to the popular US beach city of Miami, as well as an impressive 42% increase in bookings for holidays in Dubai, compared to January of 2010.
Mario Bounas, Ebookers’ marketing head for the United Kingdom, says: “Recent political unrest in Egypt has meant travellers have had to turn to other exotic sun destinations when searching for their next holiday. These latest figures certainly show Miami and Dubai have benefited from the issues in Egypt however, now the Foreign Office have removed their advisory not to travel to the Red Sea and Luxor, there are some fantastic offers available as operators try to lure travellers back. Holidaymakers can save up to 30% on some of the deals available but they won’t be around forever, so we’d advise travellers to bite the bullet and book now!”
