Emirates Airlines has launched their very own A380 double-decker aircraft to serve flights between Dubai and London. This plane is the 3rd out of 58 aircrafts that Emirates has on order. Even though the A380 is bigger, having over 40% more passenger capacity, it is less than half as noisy as the Boeing 747 and takes 20% less fuel to operate. Starting yesterday, the aircraft will be operating flights to London Heathrow Airport, departing Dubai at 7:45am and arriving at 11:35am.
Tim Clark, the President of Emirates Airlines, said that they are happy to be bringing innovative comforts to their customers, which can’t be matched anywhere else. Despite the challenging economic climate of today, he continued, customers have responded by purchasing fares for all of the seats on their outbound and inbound flights.
Clark said that their major innovations on the plane, which include a lounge and shower spas, have been proven to be a big hit among passengers. About 75% of Emirates passengers have used the in-flight showers, and they are also tearing themselves away from their revolutionary entertainment system to hang out in the lounge, he continued. Clark added that due to the environmentally friendly performance of the A380, it is going to contribute greatly to the reduced emissions efforts of London Heathrow.
The upper deck of the aircraft is used by Premium Class passengers, where First Class passengers are able to relax in massage-equipped, flat-bed Private Suites to the front. Other features include, a mini-bar that is electrically controlled, an advanced entertainment system, a work desk, and remote-controlled doors. Ice is also available to everyone on-board.
