It now seems that Brighton has been chosen to host the 21st Enjoy England for Excellence 2010 Awards ceremony. The event will take place on St George’s day, which is on April 23rd, 2010. Brighton was selected after the Tourism South East, in partnership with VisitBrighton, put in a competitive bid to host the event. The Enjoy England for Excellence is one of the most prestigious events in English tourism.
The award ceremony will be split between the Brighton Art Gallery and Museum and the Brighton Dome. The plan is for guests to be treated to drinks at a reception at the Brighton Ar Gallery and Museum, and this will be followed by the actual ceremony at the Brighton Dome.
The head of industry services and chair for the Enjoy England for Excellence committee, Jeremy Brinkworth, said that he is delighted to deliver the news to Visit Brighton and Tourism South East on their winning bid. He went on to point out that it was a very well coordinated bid, and they had some very good ideas for entertainment.
The chief executive of Tourism South East, Mike Bedingfiled, said that this is a great opportunity to demonstrate the great range of tourism products that can be found in the South East, which is the second largest visitor economy in England after London. This will be the very first time that the South East will get to host this great award ceremony. He went on to say that they have enjoyed working in a partnership with VisitBrighton and hopes to work with them again sometime in the near future.
