It now seems that Etihad Airways has said that its customers around the world will soon be able to fly to a long list of new regional airports within the UK. This great news for Etihad Airways customers comes just after the airline signed a brand new codeshare agreement with Flybe, which happens to be one of the biggest regional airlines in Europe.
This new deal will also give air travelers in the UK easier access to Etihad Airways’ rapidly expanding network of more than 55 destinations. Etihad Airways is based in Abu Dhabi and can offer many great spots for British travelers to visit.
Under this new agreement, Etihad Airways will place its own two letters “EY” on a number of services operated by Flybe between Paris, Frankfurt and Manchester. This will also be placed on 35 regional airports around the UK. In return for this, Flybe will place its letters “BE” on Etihad Airways’ flights between the same three destinations and its Abu Dhabi home base.
As of right now Etihad Airways currently flies directly from Abu Dhabi to two destinations within the UK itself. This includes a three time per day service to London and a daily service to Manchester. The new codeshare agreement with Flybe will give Etihad customers access to many more regional airports in the UK. This includes such areas as Belfast, Birmingham, and Southampton.
The chief commercial officer of Etihad Airways, Peter Baumgartner, said that the UK is a key market for Etihad Airways. He went on to say that it is one market that they plan on developing further, and this new codeshare agreement could be just the way to do it.
