Europcar, the leading European car hire company, has revealed its new on-the-go mobile phone reservation service which will allow customers to make online reservations from web-enabled phones. The announcement comes on the back of reports which show that access to the internet via mobile phones in the UK has risen by over 40% in the past year with more than 8 million adults now connected via mobile technology.

The latest initiative from Europcar reflects their continued commitment to easily accessible and stress-free car hire. The group claims that the new technology will allow customers to make bookings anytime, anywhere. From a picnic in the park to drinks at the airport lounge customers can now access their bookings, make amendments, book extras and locate the closest Europcar depot. The mobile technology features an integrated search engine which allows users to correspond with the nearest office while iPhone users will have the closest branch automatically selected. Bookings are confirmed back in real time with email and text confirmation.

The service is compatible with any web-enable mobile phone and is not exclusive to iPhone or Blackberry. It comes in seven different languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, French, Dutch and English) and applies to all worldwide Europcar hire car locations.

To celebrate the launch of the new service Europcar is offering a 10% discount on all mobile internet bookings until the end of November which applies to all vehicles in the group’s range.
