Heathrow’s Terminal 5 will see the introduction of the latest state-of-the-art innovation in touch-screen technology.

Fresh from the recent release of the similarly innovative iPhone App, the touch-screen debut comes from the leading European car rental organisation, Europcar. The new interactive technology is the first of its kind for any car hire company anywhere in the world, and shows Europcar’s continued commitment to enhancing the customer experience.

From the start of next month, travellers who arrive at Heathrow’s iconic T5 will be able to utilise the new 30 inch screens which run on the Microsoft Surface platform. The screens are especially built-in to a Europcar-designed table which also showcases uniquely adapted software that provides location information, virtual route planning and detailed maps of the UK and the globe thanks to leading search engine Bing.

Europcar customers can use the touch-screen tables to zoom onto specific locations and destinations, alternate between screens and plot their journey by selecting from a variety of interest points. Customers can also add to their itinerary items such as hotels, theme parks, museums, festivals and other notable tourist attractions. For those with specific attractions in mind, the touch-screen will also allow a tailored route map to be plotted, for example, of the Cotswolds or Lake District, or of the wine regions in France. Once complete, the itinerary can then be send direct to a PDA, laptop or mobile device where it will appear as a PDF.
