Expedia has published survey results for their first time. The survey was focused on both good and bad travel habits of tourists from all over the world. They discovered that the Japanese wound up on the top when it came to having the most good practices and habits. There were 4,000 hoteliers that participated in the study worldwide. They gave their opinions on what the behaviors are of members from different foreign countries and national groups. The quite detailed survey touched on 10 categories, including how willing they are to learn parts of a foreign language when on holiday, their behavior, their manners, their generosity and tidiness, and if they tend to complain.

The highest score on the survey was earned by the Japanese, which pointed out that the hoteliers everywhere have a very high opinion of the Japanese. The Germans and Brits cam in 2nd place, the Canadians came in at 3rd, and the Swiss weren’t far behind them. However, the Americans came in at 11th place on the survey, but scored some top marks in certain categories. A few examples are that they are seen as the most likely travelers to sample local food, display great generosity, and learn a few parts of a foreign language to get by in a foreign country. The French, on the other hand, are quite opposite in that they are less likely to learn some parts of another language while they are traveling in a foreign country.

The Germans were the tidiest tourists, because they are seldom to leave their hotel room a mess. The Japanese did, however, score very close to the top of being the tidiest. The French and British were considered the most frugal, because they will tend to consider what to spend their money on carefully while traveling.
