Crowds went to Manchester Airport to receive David Beckham back to London. The midfielder was revisiting the country for the Champions League, where Beckham’s team AC Milan will compete with his old squad Manchester United.
Upon his arrival at the airport, Beckham was given a wholehearted welcome by dozens of fans, reporters and photographers, even though he is now playing for the Italian AC Milan.
As for his comment on the upcoming match, he said that returning back to Manchester as an AC Milan player is exciting. United Manchester emerged as the winner during the first match, with a result of 3-2.
He will also be meeting with his previous manager Alex Ferguson, who traded Beckham in 2003 to Real Madrid. The football player told magazine Match of the Day that he is excited to see Ferguson again. The two men had a rocky relationship. It was reported before that Ferguson threw a boot to Beckham that hit the player on his eye.
In other related Manchester Airport news, Monarch Airlines had announced earlier this week that it will start a flight service between Manchester and the island of Santorini in Greece. Monarch flights will run starting 5 May and a similar service will also be launched from Gatwick Airport.
