Despite the ongoing financial crisis, which is finally showing some signs of slowing, Rail Europe is continuing to move ahead in business. The latest good news story for the world’s leading rail travel distributor is studies that show travel times have been reduced across the globe with the introduction of new, high-speed trains.
During a visit to Australia recently, CEO of Rail Europe Poerre-Stephane Austi highlighted the Paris-London trip, along with Brussels-Paris, as examples of how rail travel has all but eliminated air competition. Austi proudly declared that any journey less than 1500km should be done by train.
The reach of high speed trains now has Europe covered, with passengers now able to travel from the Iberian Peninsula to the Balkans and British Isles via the service. To compliment the conquest of Europe, the rail carrier has also added finishing touches such as WiFi and organic meals on its carriages.
Rail Europe has also put a great deal of energy into making its website both user-friendly and informative. The group has long recognised the growing importance of online business and has tailored its web offerings to maximise customer satisfaction. The next goal for the group is long distance business train travel which remains an untapped market as global executives stay true to air travel.
Rail Europe hopes to educate the corporate market into the benefits of first-class train travel which they claim is superior in every way to business class flying. The group has even predicted the demise of business class airfares around Europe.
