New flights have been launched by Icelandair to Reykjavik from Manchester and Glasgow. These new routes are set to kick off September 25 of this year. The airline went on to say that it would add two flights a week to its current schedule from the two UK airports that it operates from. This will be offering four connections a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The services that are offered operate on a triangle route, meaning that flights will be departing from Reykjavik to Manchester, followed by a link flight from Manchester to Glasgow. Then a final connection from Glasgow back to Reykjavik. Although it may seem slightly odd, many airlines use this same set up for many of their routes as well.

Although the new routes will be offering access to the Icelandic capital, the number of increased flights will also enable travelers to connect to Icelandair’s North American destinations . This includes such hot places as Toronto, New York and even Orlando.

The Icelandair’s general manager in the UK and Ireland, Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, said that they are very pleased to be expanding their services from Glasgow and Manchester to Iceland. He is also pleased that people will be able to use these flights to link up with Icelandair’s great North American destinations that they offer.

He went on to say that this is going to provide their loyal passengers with increased flexibility. People will be able to travel to Iceland more freely and take advantage of the very favorable exchange rate.
