Global hotel firm IHG group has launched new iPhone applications for each of its seven hotel brands.

The Atlanta-based firm, which is the world’s largest hotelier by number of rooms, said on Thursday that convenient iPhone booking appls were now available for all IHG hotel names: Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo, Candlewood Suites, Staybridge Suites, Holiday Inn Express and InterContinental Hotels and Resorts.

The news follows the December release of the company’s popular concierge iPad application and the Priority Club iPhone app in April last year. It comes as the company has said it has seen a 1000% increase in the amount of bookings via mobile devices.

The new program features ‘location awareness’ for users, which allows guests to easily find the nearest available properties. The company said this feature was included because some 65% of those booking via mobiles were making same-day reservations.

Michael Menis, InterContinental Hotel Group’s VP of interactive and web marketing said that the applications were part of the company’s strategy to make the company’s brands available to travelers via all possible booking outlets. He said the initial iPhone, Android and tablet applications that targeted Priority Club Rewards members proved a success and the new versions would build off of that success.
