A new timetable application for the iPad has been released from global airline alliance OneWorld.
Through the free application, OneWorld passengers can take advantage of the iPad’s large and accessible display whilst browsing through timetables and information on the more than 10,000 flights operated by OneWorld carriers including British Airways, JAL, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, Qantas, Iberia and LAN, Finair and Mexicana.
The app allows users to access OneWorld carrier routes, departure and arrival times, flight numbers, destinations, flight and layover durations, connection information, gate information and codeshare information. Frequent flier reviews of the app have been positive in noting that its immensely useful in staying informed about routes and codeshare options for OneWorld flights.
The programme’s release comes after the launch of the OneWorld iPhone application, which was long awaited however many have said that it didn’t match up to the app put out by rival alliance group SkyTeam. That application has additional features that allow users to select an airport and locate carriers serving the destination as well as seven-day forecasts and live weather information.
Star Alliance, which boasts the world’s biggest airline network, still hasn’t released a mobile application however has a mobile-optimised version of its website. Meanwhile, SkyTeam’s and OneWorld’s applications are available for free from Apple’s iTunes store.
