Budget carrier Jet2.com has announced a boost in frequency on its Edinburgh-Malaga route.
The news comes just months after the start of the route, which has seen high demand since the airline commenced flights late last year. Now a new flight will begin every Monday beginning in May, bringing the total number of weekly flights to Malaga from Edinburg to three.
The route will launch on the 23rd of May. It will leave the Scottish capital at 0900 local time and will arrive on the Spanish Mediterranean coast at 1315 local time. It will then leave Malaga at 1350 and will touch down at Edinburgh airport at 1605. The airline has said the Monday flight would give holidaymakers greater options for stay duration on their trip, including extended weekends or 10-day jaunts.
Philip Meeson, founder of Jet2, said that the addition of the new flights comes as the result of demand ‘exceeding expectations’ for the route. He said the company was delighted to boost frequencies, which he said would enable more customers to take advantage of flying with Jet2.
Malaga has long been a favourite among British holidaymakers in search of sunshine and recent booking figures have shown that it remains one of the UK’s primary holiday destinations.
