New reports now suggest that Korean Air will actually be operating an Airbus A380 to London in time for the 2012 London Olympic games. According to the chief executive of Korean Air, these aircrafts will help get more people to London to see the games, thus, helping the airline to fly more people.
The CEO and chairman of Korean Air, Yang Ho Cho, just recently confirmed that these aircrafts will be operating the route. This is big news since the planes were meant to originally be operating in time for the Beijing Olympics, which has long since past.
Yang Ho Cho went on to say that the UK market is very important to Korean Air. This is because London is one of the most important hubs in all of Europe. He went on to say that the airline did order 10 of these A380 jets, and they were suppose to be launched in time for the Beijing Olympics. However, now these jets will be used in the bigger markets and for London as well.
Yango Ho Cho also took this time to say that he would welcome Japan Airlines as the ninth member of the Skyteam alliance if Japan Airlines should choose to join. He said that Japan Airlines is a very important airline in Asia, and Skyteam is currently in negotiations with the carrier. He pointed out that Air France and Delta are seeking a partnership with Japan Airlines, but the details are very confidential. However, he did note that Japan Airlines is very interested in leaving Oneworld and joining its rival Skyteam.
