It now seems that the London Hilton on Park Lane is currently celebrating being crowned as England’s Leading Business Hotel at the 2009 World Travel Awards. This ceremony was held back on October 17th at the Marriott Praia Del Rey Obidos in Portugal. This is an awards show that has already been coined as the Oscars of the travel and tourism industry.

All of the hotels that were competing in the Leading Business Hotel event were judged on certain criteria. This included business performance, personnel, communication, customer experience, innovation, team work, enterprise and creativity. Leading travel industry professionals went on to vote the Hilton London on Park Lane as the winner in this category because of its ability to demonstrate excellence in all categories.

The general manager of the hotel, Michael Shepherd, said that to be recognized by their industry peers as the country’s best business hotel is a great achievement. He went on to say that they believe that face to face meetings are the best ways to do business and that their hotel can offer customers the best value for their money. He also went on to talk about the half a million pounds that they spent refurbishing their meeting room spaces for business guests.

The president of the World Travel Awards, Graham Cooke, said that the past 12 months has brought several challenges, most notably the economic downturn and the swine flu. He pointed out that this hotel has been able to go above and beyond their call of duty, and thus, they were able to take home the award to show it.
