The senior executive of Merlin Entertainment Group, Glenn Earlam, said that next week, plans for the very first UK Legoland Discovery Center will be announced. The plan right now is to have the Legoland Discovery Center located at the Trafford Centre.

Although the Legoland Discovery Center was something that was first reported in Crain’s Manchester Business last October, new details about the plan will be told next week. One thing that has already been announced is that the Discovery Center is set to be open in time for Easter 2010.

Gordon McKinnon, the director of operations at the Trafford Centre, and Andrew Stokes, the chief executive of Marketing Manchester, are set to make an appearance with Glenn on July 1 to talk more about the UK’s first Legoland Discovery Center.

Legoland has already opened other Discovery Centers around the world. In fact, the very first Legoland Discovery Center was opened up in Berlin back in 2007. The concept of these Discovery centers is to bring in kids that are ages 3 to 12. However, since the opening of that first Discovery Center, another one has been announced, opening in Chicago.

Merlin Entertainment Group is also the owner and operator of many other attractions found in the UK. This includes Madame Tussauds, The London Eye, Sea Life Aquariums, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and many others. Each park that is opened by Merlin Entertainment Group is set to deliver a different kind of experience for guests and are geared towards different ages. However, Legoland is one of the few that has spread to other parts of the world.
