With the death of Michael Jackson, Legoland, especially the one in California, was hoping to do something special to remember him by. Thus, the idea to build a four inch tall Michael Jackson tribute figure had been born. Now it seems, however, that the plan to build this memorial piece has now been scraped. Legoland is saying that the Michael Jackson tribute plan had to be scraped because of unresolved legal issues that have not been cleared up. Officials at any of the Legoland parks around the world will not elaborate on the legal issues that are at hand.
The park in California said that it was to add a Jacko Lego figure Friday to the Southern California section of the Miniland attraction. This was set to be a panoramic tableau rendered completely with legos. The design of the figures were going to be decided based on votes by readers who visited CNN.com. The readers at CNN.com were suppose to choose among many different Lego models for the King of Pop at different eras in his music career.
The plan for the mimi Michael Jackson at Legoland was to show the figure exiting a limousine in front of the Hollywood’s Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Here fans and paparazzi would have been able to see and take shots of the figure. The marquee at the place would have read “Thriller.” However, Legoland officials said that now there are no future plans to install any kind of Michael Jackson lego figures at any of the Legoland parks around the world.
