The Marriott International hotel group has announced it will soon debut in Las Vegas.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel-casino has joined the leading hotel operator in a move which will allow loyal Marriott customers to enjoy accommodation on the iconic strip, while providing the Cosmopolitan with an ideal kick-start to attracting new business.
On Wednesday, the under-construction resort said it has completed a new distribution agreement that will see it become a part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, which is a range of upscale independent hotels launched by the franchiser launched in 2009. The partnership will give the 3,000-room Cosmopolitan ideal access to the vast customer database held by Marriott international, with the group’s 33 million members in turn offered their first opportunity to stay on the Las Vegas Strip and accrue membership rewards points.
Marriott International’s CEO, JW Marriott told media that previously, many of the loyalty program’s members travelled to the desert oasis each year but did not use a Marriott product, which had been addressed under the new agreement. Meanwhile, Cosmopolitan’s chief executive, John Unwin, said the alliance with Marriott would help drive growth and broaden the hotel’s customer base. Unwin highlighted the newfound position of his hotel on the world’s seventh largest retail website as a landmark occasion, while hotel officials have stated that the new resort will be the largest in the Autograph Collection and the sole property to feature gambling.
Marriott International operates over 3,400 properties across 70 countries worldwide, featuring leading brands Renaissance and Ritz-Carlton.
