It now seems that the NFL’s International Series of regular season games will make its return to the UK this upcoming Sunday when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the New England Patriots. This contest will now mark the third consecutive year that the NFL, which is the American National Football League, has played a regular season game at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Back on October 26, 2008, the New Orleans Saints were able to defeat the San Diego Chargers 37 to 32 before a crowd of more than 83,226. The series first got its start in October of 2007 when the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins 13 to 10. Ever since then, the UK has fallen in love with the hard hitting action of watching American football.
The Chairman and CEO of the New England Patriots, Robert Kraft, said that they are proud to be selected by the NFL to be featured in this year’s international game. He said that he is sure that a trip to the UK will prove to be an unforgettable experience for the players, coaches and fans that make the trip.
This game is set to increase the tourism to London, as well as increase the number of passengers that are flying overseas this coming weekend. In past years, many Americans have made the trip out to the UK to watch their favorite football teams compete in head to head battle. This year the UK expects more Americans to make the trip, as well as many Brits to head off to watch the game.
