World Travel Market (WTM) has announced the beginning of its award nomination process for firms practicing ‘responsible tourism’.
Organisers from the top travel event said that officials would be looking for exceptional people taking part in exceptional measures to promote and practice responsible tourism. The nomination deadline is the 17th of June.
The award show will take place on the 9th of November at ExCel London as part of WTM’s World Responsible Tourism Day opening ceremony. Organisers say the event will work to educate and encourage companies and organisations throughout the international tourism industry to take part in year-round responsible tourism initiatives. It will also feature a number of seminars, debates and presentations and will culminate in the Networking Reception.
Delegates and top executives from many of the world’s leading travel brands will be in attendance and will take part in promotional activities, conferences, special events, family entertainment and trade fairs.
The award program began eight years ago and since then officials have made more than 10,000 nominations whilst some 200 travel firms have been recognised for exceptional efforts in responsible tourism in some 50 countries around the world. There currently are more than 100 applications from companies seeking to use WTM’s responsible tourism logo ahead of the event.
