Residents of Riverdale, New York have been expressing their support for ferry service in their area. While, a few residents have expressed concern about environment impact, support for ferries has still been overwhelming.

The city is looking at possible locations for ferry docks throughout the Bronx bureau and the rest of the city. It is making active efforts to collect public opinions from residents in all the areas.

Riverdale residents in particular feel that they have a need for ferries when commuting to lower Manhattan. The metro service does not get everyone to their destinations, residents claim.

Riverdale residents hammered the point that the new ferries could help Manhattan’s recovery from economic problems. Saying it would encourage travelling to lower Manhattan and this would be a great push to business and Real Estate there.

Despite the support, city council candidate Tony casino criticized the plane. He said that in order to drive to potential ferry locations, you would have to use already troubled traffic spots. The plan could put more pressure and difficult positions on New York’s roads and the ferries would cease to be convenient if you have to fight traffic to get to the dock. He also noted that the price that they would have to charge for ferry trips would make it prohibitive. Prices for frequent users would be around eight dollars per trip.
