A recently conducted survey suggests that British holidaymakers are becoming more precise about what they want to get out of their trip. The study was conducted by Beat the Brochure. Unsurprisingly, most of the 2,000 respondents listed sand, sea and sun as being important. The most popular family holiday would be somewhere within Europe and for two-weeks in the summer.

According to Beat the Brochure’s Daniel Ox, the survey showed that the ideal temperature in a holiday destination was 27 degrees. The majority of travellers also said that they wanted to have sunshine for at least nine hours in every day. The poll also suggests that Brits aren’t keen on travelling too far from their front doors with the maximum time being spent on a plane limited to five hours.

This would keep most holidaymakers in Europe. The study also revealed that the resort or hotel being stayed at should be no more than 22 minutes by car from the airport. Travellers expect to pick up a hire car at the airport after they arrive. Having arrived at their destination, most holidaymakers intend to spend a total of four out of the 14 days booked relaxing by a pool and topping up their tan.

Another four days would be spent doing some sightseeing and exploring the local neighbourhood and its attractions. Time allocated to shopping for souvenirs and gifts will take up another two of the 14 days.

The survey shows that Brits are still keen on a traditional European summer holiday.
