Superbowl week showcases everything that is bold and brash about America and car hire is no exception. The world will be watching Miami next Sunday (US time) as the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints bring superstardom to the southern Babylon but it’s not just the football or the players that are turning heads. Making a special appearance at the Superbowl festivities this year will be a team of Maseratis, Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

According to the manager at Players Car Rental Bruno Vargas everybody who visits Miami wants to be a big shot and this means the top of the line in luxury sports cars.

Take for example the Lambroghini Gallardo Nera, which usually retails for around $220,000 – yours to drive around Superbowl week in for a mere $7,200. With only 160 such models ever made there are under 100 on the global roads, making sure you will feel privileged to be behind the wheel. But the Nera is small change compared to the $15,000 per week Ferrari California 2010 – the four door convertible version.

Be warned though, no unlimited mileage with these supercars – anything more than around 70 miles and you’ll be shelling out $4 per mile. So if you have the cash why not visit the Players show room where luxury cars line the walls waiting for actors, models, rappers and sports stars to choose their bling. Best hurry, the whole fleet is expected to be gone by kick-off so make the journey across town to Players where the cars are the stars.
