A Portuguese male model has been arrested in connection with a bizarre hotel death in New York City.
The announcement came from the New York City Police Department (aka NYPD) on Monday, who announced that 21 year-old Renato Seabra of Cantanhede, Portugal has been charged with second-degree murder over the ordeal which saw 65 year-old Carlos Castro found dead and castrated in New York’s InterContinental Times Square Hotel.
Mr Seabra was first held at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital for injuries after the incident occurred, just a few blocks from the hotel. He later was transferred to Bellevue Hospital Center by local authorities for psychiatric evaluation before his arrest. Timing of the events is slightly unclear, however reports have said that Seabra was set for an arraignment hearing on Monday.
Mr Castro had been found bludgeoned to death in room 3416 of the central Manhattan hotel on Friday evening. Spokeswoman Grace Burgess said that the official cause of death was determined to be strangulation and a number of massive forced injuries to the head. He had also been castrated.
Conflicting reports and controversy have surrounded the incident, as some have reported the two men as being a couple whist others, including Seabra’s mother, denied such reports.
