Premier Inn, which is the Whitebread-owned budget hotel chain, said that it has now revealed its plans to open up 12 brand new hotels between 2010 and 2013. This will help the budget hotel chain add another 1,562 rooms to its portfolio. These hotels will be built just in time to take advantage of the economy turning back around.

Three of these Premier Inn hotels to receive its planning permission will be build on London’s Old Street, Waterloo, and Greenwhich. Another three of the hotels will be in Scotland’s Dalkeith, Inverness, and Edinburgh. Another four hotels are set to be placed in Preston, Rochester, Stratford upon Avon, and Sunbury on Thames.

Premier Inn has also completed the deal on bringing in a 120 bedroom hotel to the Titanic Quarter, Belfast new waterfront development, as well as a 95 bedroom hotel in London Islington.

The commercial and property director at Whitebread Hotels and Restaurants, Mark Anderson, said that securing these high value sites in prime locations around London are key to their plans. This is all part of their plan of an expansion strategy that is set over the course of the next two years. He went on to say that these sites, not only demonstrate strength, but the possibility for growth in the industry.

Right now experts say it’s the perfect time for hotel chains to be building. With the economic downturn starting to come to an end, these hotel chains can still get great deals on building hotels, but will not have to wait as long to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
