The Whitebread-owned hotel chain, Premier Inn, says that it wants to boost its portfolio by five hotels across the UK. The sites that the company is choosing are worth a combined total of £27 million. In all, this means that the hotel chain will add 535 rooms to its portfolio in the UK.

Right now the package includes a deal with Prupim to build a 121 bed room hotel at Medway Leisure Park in Rochester, Kent. It also has a deal with Newton Abbott Jockey Club to build a 62 bed room Premier Inn and Table Table restaurant.

Premier Inn has also won planning permission for a 75 bed room Premier Inn and Beefeater restaurant in Newmarket, as well as a 122 bed room Premier Inn in Worcester at the Worcestershire Country Cricket Club. The company even has permission to build a 155 bed room hotel in Southampton.

The head of acquisitions for the UK and Ireland Whitebread Hotels and Restaurants, John Bates, said that securing these top locations is a fantastic results of Premier Inn. He said that this is a very welcome addition to the company and a great way to expand their portfolio in the UK. He also noted that bringing Premier Inn to some of the UK’s leading sports and leisure locations is a key part of their growth plan.

Right now the development program will see the very first hotel opening in 2010/2011 and will see the last hotel finished by 2013/2014. However, right now Travelodge is also looking to build up a number of hotels in the UK, but most of these are going to be located in London.
