British Airways and Middle Eastern carrier Royal Jordanian have announced an expansion of their current business agreement.
According to a statement from Royal Jordanian released on Wednesday, its current codeshare routes with British Airways have been extended. It also said that the deal would make Royal Jordanian flights available for purchase on British Airways’ website.
British Airways customers also get the benefit of being able to book nonstop flights to the Jordanian capital Amman under a BA flight number though these are operated Royal Jordanian. British Airways currently doesn’t have any of its own flights to Jordan. In addition to the website, these tickets can be booked at BA ticketing offices in the United Kingdom as well as in Jordan.
The two companies are both members of Oneworld Alliance and have been doing codeshare business together since 2008. Since then Royal Jordanian has been able to access British Airways’ full network of flights to Scandinavian cities including Oslo and Stockholm from Heathrow Airport in London.
Additional members of Oneworld Alliance include American Airlines, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Finair, Iberia, LAN Chile, Mexicana, Japan Airlines, Malev, S7 Airlines, and Iberia. It is the world’s second largest alliance behind SkyTeam.
