Reports now show that Ryanair has just recently announce that it will open its first base in Norway. With the opening of this base, 1,700 jobs will be created. The budget airline said that the base will be made at Oslo Rygge Airport in March

The base, which will be established with $200 million, will get three new aircrafts and 16 new routes. These new aircrafts will come on top of the six that the carrier already has at the airport. The airline hopes that this new base will boost its annual traffic to the airport by 1.7 million passengers.

Michael O’Leary said that the expansion will create and sustain at least 1,700 jobs at the airport. Ryanair will also be able to offer 100 weekly return flights to and from Oslo Ryggee Airport to destinations such as Venice, Berlin and Malaga.

This announcement comes just a few days after the airline said that it will be launching ten new routes from Liverpool, Bristol, Glasgow and Edinburgh airports as of February next year. As a result of this, it will be adding a fifth aircraft to Bristol and increase its Liverpool fleet from six to eight.

This new expansion appears to help lay rest the claims that the airline was thinking about easing back on routes due to the economy. In fact, this news comes on the back of a 35 percent jump in overall net profits for Ryanair to 250.5 million euros for the three months to September 30th. This is thanks to a 42 percent drop in oil prices from a year earlier.
